Taste of London 2018, what can we say…?

We can agree that it brought together 40 of capitals finest culinary gods and one of London’s finest parks, Regent Park and turned it into food fulfilled celebration. From the likes of newbies including Ikoyi and El Pastor to ROKA, BAO, Duddell’s and many more joining in for another Summer at Taste of London, not forgetting the Shard’s very own Hutong, making an appearance.

It certainly was an event that Local Spoon could not miss out on.

We started the day by sampling some deliciousness at the Artisan food section from slushy cider from Mr Scrumpy (perfect to cool us down) to some Welsh cheese with the Snowdonia Cheese Company. Before we took a stroll up to the Fire Pit, where we saw Chefs such as David Carter from SMOKESTAK show off their BBQ skills on an open flame…hot!

Celebrity Cruise Tasting Menu with Cornelius Gallagher

Despite all the mouthwatering and highly tempting stalls surrounding us everywhere we walked. Local Spoon favourite part of the event was Chef’s Table at the Celebrity Cruises tent.

Celebrity Cruises returned to Taste of London for its sixth year and we were fortunate enough to get a flavour of what guests can expect onboard when the new Celebrity Edge cruise ship when it sets sail in November with a menu designed by Michelin-starred Associate Vice President, Cornelius Gallagher.

The Edge will offer four complimentary restaurants to guests. Each restaurant has been designed with an ambience inspired by different regions of the world such as Tuscany, Normandie, Cyprus and New York. The Edge will be home to Celebrity Cruises largest ever selection of dishes at sea.

During Taste of London 2018, Local Spoon got a flavour of the Cosmopolitan menu.

To begin we had a Grilled Carrot & Mozzarella salad accompanied with smoked trout, fresh herbs and a carrot vinaigrette, all washed down with the perfectly paired wine. A simple but yet flavoursome starter.
We were then served up a Manhattan cut NY Strip Steak with roasted vegetables, parsnip puree and a caramelized onions. Our mouths are watering just thinking of it again. If you’ll be hopping on board the Edge, we promise you the food will not disappoint.
And of course, no good food is complete without good wine…

Celebrity Cruises has worked closely with TV show The Wine Show, to bring guests perfectly paired wines to the dishes to enliven their palates. Not only that, but guests will get to experience the largest and rarest wine collections at sea. with an expert team of onboard sommeliers to showcase wines handpicked by Joe and Amelia.

The culinary adventure does not stop there…

The Edge will also be offering guests “an immersive fusion of technology, animation and dining” with its Le Petit Chef concept, an animated character who appears on guests’ plates and prepares courses “before their eyes”. Similar to that which has been in London at TT Liquor.

The Edge will spend its first season sailing around Eastern and Western Caribbean before it heads to Europe and explores the likes of Spain and Italy in 2019. Click here to find out more.

All we have to say is we already can’t wait for Taste of London 2019, in the meantime, we can always book a Celebrity Cruise to fulfil our needs.
